Ever wondered if preschoolers can learn history or grasp coding fundamentals? We put that question to the test at Clementi Public Library with our iconic Kebbi AI robot, bringing a hands-on preschool STEM and history workshop to curious five to six‑year‑olds.
The History with Kebbi workshop on 5 July 2025 at a library in West of Singapore at Clementi marked an inspiring milestone: even kids aged five to six are diving into coding alongside their early reading adventures. In collaboration with the National Library Board (NLB) under the Libraries & Archives Blueprint 2025 (LAB25) initiative, this event demonstrated that digital literacy and curiosity can begin well before formal schooling.
This hands-on session in the heartlands seamlessly integrated storytelling and STEM: while the little ones explored library spaces, they also got an introductory taste of computational thinking through fun and age-appropriate coding tasks. The workshop reflected LAB25’s core mission: making technology education inclusive, accessible, and fun for every child. The young participants navigated simple logic-building exercises inspired by Kebbi’s tales, laying foundational skills in coding with natural enthusiasm.
Preschoolers aged five to six at Lyza Education don’t actually learn formal “coding” in the traditional sense. Instead, our focus is on nurturing essential STEM skills like logical reasoning, sequencing, problem‑solving, and creative thinking through hands‑on, play‑based activities with tools like the Kebbi AI robot and Scratch Jr, a foundation much of us adults take for granted, having grown up surrounded by technology and AI products.

It was certainly fascinating to watch preschoolers buzzing with excitement as they interacted with Kebbi, our iconic AI social robot, all while absorbing both STEM fundamentals and bits of History. Kebbi isn’t just a cute companion, it responds to voice and object recognition, engaging kids in problem-solving, sequencing, and coding-like thinking through fun activities. This blend of technology and storytelling makes STEM learning tangible and fun for children aged 5 to 6, nurturing curiosity at a pivotal developmental stage.
What makes the L102 “History with Kebbi” workshop extra special is its unique use of QR‑code command cards and cultural toys from Heartfelt Makan to introduce global history through food. By scanning QR codes with Kebbi’s camera, students trigger commands that guide the robot, while the felt food toys help illustrate traditions and stories from countries like Vietnam, India, China, Italy, and Singapore.
Because preschoolers may not grasp historical concepts directly, using food as an entry point makes learning accessible, sensory, and memorable (A delicious gateway to understanding diverse cultures at a young age 😋)

The kids were excited and engaged, having fun learning simple coding concepts like sequencing and events through Kebbi and the interactive storytelling of Banh Mi.
