About the Competition

Is your child aged 7 to 10 passionate about creating games, telling stories, or exploring tech? Enter the Lyza Scratch Challenge 2025, a nationwide Scratch competition designed to showcase the brightest young creators in Singapore!

Theme

Kebbi explores Singapore

Under-8 (U8)

  • Create a simple interactive animation or game where the Kebbi visits iconic landmarks like the Merlion, Gardens by the Bay, or Sentosa.​

  • Use basic motion, sound, and looks blocks

Under-10 (U10)

  • ​Develop an interactive game or story where a tourist named Kebbi navigates through Singapore attractions 

  • Include meaningful use of variables

  • Use broadcast messages, conditionals, and loops

Who is Kebbi?

Think of Kebbi as your new Scratch mascot: A charming character with personality, just like Scratch Cat, but designed uniquely inhouse. On the competition day, every participant will receive a custom Kebbi sprite, complete with walking animations and multiple costumes to fuel creativity.

How it Works?

Do note that there is a $40 participation fee, that supports the competition experience by providing trophies and certificates to recognise effort and achievement, as well as judging logistics and admin support to ensure a smooth process.

Select your age group (Under-8, Under-10).

Prepare your designs! Upon registering for the competition, you are set to go with the design of the project (Sprite, backdrops, sounds etc). However do note that you are not allowed to bring any premade code into the competition.

On the schedule that you have registered for, you will be given 90 minutes to code out your project.

Project short presentation (maximum five minutes) covering:

  • How your project works.​

  • The most impressive block of code of your program

Do note that your presentation will be recorded for judging purposes.

​​​​Your project would be judged after the session, and your results will be published a week later!

On 20 December 2025, the best performing participants will be invited to our flagship centre in Orchard for a prize presentation session.

  • Registration: 1 August 2025

  • ​Competition Dates: All Fridays from 22 November to Wed 12 December

  • Prize Presentation: 20 December 2025 @ Orchard

Grading Rubrics

01

Functionality (25%)

The Scratch creation (game or animation) runs well, ensuring an engaging, glitch-free user experience.

02

Creativity (25%)

The tourism theme is strongly present, showcasing iconic Singapore landmarks, reflecting Singapore's culture and heritage.

03

Code Logic (25%)

Demonstrates strong Scratch coding skills with effective use of events, loops, conditionals, broadcast messages, and variables (e.g., scoring or animation timers). 

04

Presentation (25%)

Able to present his/her project well and allow others to understand the beauty of his/her project
