EdTech Quest Finals 2025: A Live Coding Showcase for Young Innovators

Updated: Aug 27

On 28 June 2025, Lyza Education hosted its exclusive, invite-only EdTech Quest Finals 2025, welcoming students aged 7–12 to showcase their coding and project-development skills in our flagship centre in Orchard. After months of rigorous study in our FAANG-inspired curriculum, competitors faced off in CodeLab and Scratch quizzes, before diving into live project presentations in a supportive, low-pressure environment. The day brought energy, creativity, and a true celebration of growing technological confidence.

It was inspiring to see students apply the fundamentals of event-driven programming, variables, loops, and storytelling, all sharpened through Lyza’s FAANG-inspired courses. Their dedication showed in both their quiz performance and their final projects, which ranged from interactive Scratch games to data visualization apps and narrative animations. This progression—learning and applying in real-time—reinforces the value of project-based learning in developing future-ready skills.

A highlight of the event was the presence of Lyza’s founder, Lizhang, who has extensive experience in Amazon and Meta at a regional level. His interaction with parents and participants provided candid insights into working in top tech environments and inspired students to see coding as more than just assignments. It is a gateway to innovation and purposeful careers. The event atmosphere struck the perfect balance of encouragement and challenge, making it an ideal space for budding coders to grow.

We proudly present an exclusive blog feature highlighting the achievements of our top winners from EdTech Quest 2025, Ashlyn, Skyler and Kyler.

Kyler, 10

First Place

What are your hobbies?

I like watching TV programmes.

How did you start coding?

I had some experience with Scratch, and my parents later enrolled me in Lyza’s coding programs.

Why did you participate in EdTech Quest 2025?

My parents received an invite and learnt that I was one of the top-performing students. They encouraged me to go.

Skyler, 9

Second Place

What are your hobbies?

I like reading books, from fiction to non-fiction. In fact during eyebreaks I often spend my time reading with the wide options of books available at the play area in Orchard.

How did you start coding?

When I was in preschool, I got a chance to learn about Scratch Jr. I realised that I could learn coding and create games, which is what I enjoy doing.

Why did you participate in EdTech Quest 2025?

Me and my dad saw the invite, and my dad encouraged me to join, so I thought why not?

Ashlyn, 10

Third Place

What are your hobbies?

I like playing badminton and reading.

How did you start coding?

I previously had Scratch coding lessons, and there was one time where my sister and I saw Lyza Education's Kebbi and was intrigued by the cute looks of it. We learnt that we could learn how to code out projects and allow the robot to move, and we were keen to learn. I then learnt that there was a lot more on coding than Scratch.

Why did you participate in EdTech Quest 2025?

I have always been interested in coding, and when I heard that I was invited to join the competition I wanted to join!

What are your goals for the future in coding?

I have went through two beginner courses, and I'm moving on to the intermediate ones, so I want to learn how to create more interesting and advanced games.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to every student who took part in EdTech Quest 2025. Watching these young coders develop their skills and grow in confidence has been incredibly rewarding. We’re excited to see how each of them continues to build on this experience and pursue their passion for programming and digital innovation.

P.S. Missed an invite to EdTech Quest 2025 or haven’t enrolled in our coding programs yet? We are hosting a public competition Lyza Scratch Challenge (LSC) in the year-end holidays? Open to kids aged from 7 to 10, it offers children valuable opportunities to challenge themselves, sharpen their programming skills, and gain real-world experience in tech.
